"Ieva Skaurone‘s painting is mysterious. Not in a mystical or occultist manner, neither in a terryfing nor dread evoking sense, but by providing many meanings and purposes. How is it done? Very simplly (at least looking from the side) - by mixing paint, applying it on a canvas, combining colours and shapes. This is the first step in any painting, but not every painter can create a mystery. Ieva does it as a magician, drowning, submerging the viewer's eye in a strange twilight, colours, nebula, and misty tones. This impression is accentuated by depicting polished silhouettes and contours of shapes. [...] I. Skaurone‘s paintings are Lithuanian through the palette used by the artist, and in this case it is not the painting technique, but rather the images of natural landscapes – the influence of a mist crawling through the grass in a meadow, or the twilight of a summer night. However, it is necessary to listen deeply to the artist's works. Then another, even a more mysterious level follows after the initial level of mystery. In her paintings Ieva discusses essential, existential, and interpresonal subjects - such as the choice of self-sacrifice, or simply fate and all related phenomena and dilemmas. This is the meaning and purpose of this mysterious painting technique. "
